PRESS RELEASE

G12 Century Guitar Speaker Shown at Winter NAMM

January 28, 2003

Guitar speaker manufacturer Celestion was exhibiting its G12 Century guitar speaker at this year's Winter NAMM show.

When designing the new G12 Century, Celestion's Research and Development engineers used their 40 years of experience in loudspeaker design and laser interferometry (the use of lasers to measure mechanical vibrations and study speaker behavior) to create the first guitar speaker with a Neodymium alloy magnet structure. The use of Neodymium (a very powerful magnetic material) allows Celestion to create a totally new speaker with low weight (1/3rd the weight of its nearest conventional 12-inch equivalent).

The result is the G12 Century, a 12-inch, 80 Watt, ultra-lightweight (1.6kg/3.5lbs) speaker that is dynamic, articulate, very fast, and operates cool and efficiently. The voicing of the G12 Century is a classic modern tone, aggressive but glassy and defined, smooth but precise, very fluid, very punchy and in your face when necessary. In addition, the G12 Century has the ability to deliver extremely high SPL's (121dB @ 1meter).

Featuring an all-new design, the G12 Century is the perfect compliment for analog or digital effects as well as today's DSP modeling amplifiers. Designed to provide versatility in the most demanding playing situations, the G12 Century features rugged construction and high-performance specifications.

"Since the early 1950's, Celestion has always been at the forefront of guitar speaker design and the G12 Century continues in that tradition," stated Ian White, Development Director for Celestion. "The G12 Century is a direct result of the collaborative efforts put forth by our R & D team as well as input from some of the leading amp designers and professional guitarists in the business. The G12 Century is a lightweight speaker rich in tone that is extremely responsive and has the ability to deliver high SPL's. We're very proud of this design."
