Building even greater functionality and enhancements into its flagship Orville multi-channel, multi-effects processor, Eventide announced that v.3.0 is now available and units shipping from Eventide will have v.3.0 resident effective Monday, January 20th. This new version of software for Orville features four new effects modules, a host of new preset algorithms, and a number of enhancements to system performance. The v.3.0 software upgrade for Orville is available for $149 from Eventide or a free download from the web site.

The new DynamicDistortion, Predictive Vocoder, Expander and PitchTime effects modules for Orville v.3.0 bring the number of preset algorithms to over one thousand. By modeling uniquely analog distortion types based on a proprietary curve-fitting process, the DynamicDistorition module produces characteristics that are highly responsive to the input signal. The Predictive Vocoder, meanwhile, generates a vocoder effect using a high-resolution physical model of the human vocal tract. The Expander allows dynamic expansion of the input signal, and the PitchTime effects module provides a high quality pitch shifter combined with time compression and expansion. The culmination of significant research and development, this new release adds many new algorithm combinations and provides numerous enhancements to the system's performance, such as tap tempo.

As the flagship of Eventide's line Orville features 24-bit digital-to-analog conversion, 96kHz sampling, and signal to noise better than 110dB. Orville features the UltraShifter formant corrected, pitch changer optimized for voice, and automatic pitch correction. In addition, the Orville is packed with reverbs, lush choruses, FM panners, sample and hold filters, vibratos, a broad range of modulating delays, stereo multi-band compression, phase shifting, noise gating, micro pitch shifting, and much more. Orville has up to eight times the processing power of its predecessor, the DSP400.

The Orville is the culmination of over seven years of development and contains the sum total of all the company's preset algorithms, as well as a 174-second mono sampler, or 87 seconds of phase locked stereo, featuring advanced looping, editing and layering capabilities. The presets are based on the company's unique "Building Block Effects Architecture" where each preset is its own unique algorithm. Every preset is a unique combination of effects chosen from Eventide's library of over two-hundred unique effects modules, connected together in particular configurations via its "Anything-to-Anything Routing" capability, and finely crafted for a particular function or effect. Orville is supported by Eventide's exclusive PC-based VSIG graphic editor which is available at no charge on the company's web site.
