PRESS RELEASE
| New RKB Basses from Ibanez
 |
| RKB900VF |
January 21, 2003
Ibanez often touts itself as "Anything But Traditional." That slogan will be set aside for the moment as Ibanez offers "Something Quite Traditional" in its new RKB bass. Instead of the narrow necks and active electronics Ibanez has become known for in basses, the new RKB is equipped with a thicker one-piece maple neck and passive, but powerful pickups with passive tone controls.
"The RKB is for players who want the pure wood tone--without any electronic coloration--of an alder body and a 1 pc maple neck," remarked Jim Donahue of Ibanez R&D.
Of course, with plenty of tried and true traditional avenues already open to players, why should players consider buying an Ibanez? "Because the RKB's got the best of everything," replies Donahue. "The RKB is made by our most experienced Japanese luthiers in our most advanced facility in Japan. It features a Prestige neck which means it has the comfortable feel, right out of the box as a vintage axe that's been rounded and broken in by years of dedicated playing. And there's no need for any after-market hotrodding. The RKB is already equipped with all the favorite after market add-ons of players who prefer trad basses: a Leo Quann Badass II bridge, Duncan Bassline Quarter Pound P and J pickups and Hipshot licensed Ultralite tuners."
