PRESS RELEASE

MP-500 Joins Roland's Digital Piano Lineup

January 16, 2003

Roland has unveiled the MP-500 Digital Piano. This 88-note instrument puts Roland's finest piano sounds--and an expressive Progressive Hammer-Action Keyboard--into a new upright cabinet with an black walnut finish. The MP-500 also sports a handy metronome and Song Recorder, onboard effects and a speaker system. A pair of high-quality headphones is included for silent practice.

The MP-500 starts with Roland's finest stereo-sampled piano sounds, designed to capture every nuance of a fine acoustic grand. The 88-note Progressive Hammer-Action Keyboard is equally pleasing, with a lighter touch in the upper range and a heavier touch in the lower range. Players can also enjoy several instrument sounds like electric piano, harpsichord, strings and acoustic bass, using convenient Split and Layer modes to assign different sounds to each hand or to stack two sounds at once.

A built-in metronome and Song Recorder make for more effective practice, and allow players to capture a complete performance. Onboard reverb, chorus and Sympathetic Resonance give the MP-500's sounds an even more natural ambience, while damper, soft and sostenuto pedals allow for more dynamic playing. The MP-500's upright cabinet features a built-in stereo sound system, plus a sliding keyboard lid and modesty panel. Finished in luxurious black walnut, the MP-500 is sure to fit any home's d cor.

Connections to the MP-500 include a stereo Line output, stereo Line input, two stereo Headphone jacks, MIDI In and Out, plus a special Pedal jack for connecting the MP-500's three pedals (damper, soft, sostenuto).
