Yamaha Professional Audio has expanded the line of Mini-YGDAI expansion cards that include the MY8 Series, the 96kHz Series and several third party models with the Winter NAMM 2003 introduction of the MY16 Series Digital I/O cards. Each card is capable of supporting up to 16 channels of simultaneous ADAT, AES/EBU and TDIF formats via a single expansion slot located on the Yamaha 02R96, 01V96, DM2000 and DM1000 digital audio consoles.

All 16 channels can be used independently at sample rates up to 48kHz. The MY16 Series can also be used for "double channel" connection (using two tracks to create one) to 96kHz recorders, providing eight channels of I/O at 88.2 or 96kHz.

The 16-channel ADAT (MY16-AT) card is currently available, and the 16-channel TASCAM (MY16-TD) and AES/EBU cards (MY16-AE) cards are set for delivery in March 2003.

"Whether you own a small or large-format Yamaha digital console and need digital I/O in ADAT, AES/EBU or TASCAM formats, you can select an MY16 card to create the input/output configuration that's perfect for your needs," states John Schauer, product manager, Yamaha Professional Audio.

Seamlessly integrating with a Yamaha digital console's normal operation, the MY16 Series cards are 24-bit/96kHz compatible and insert into any of: the four mini-YGDAI slots on the rear panel of the 02R96; the six on the DM2000; the two on the DM1000; and the single slot on the 01V96. Audio processing is supported with 48-bit internal precision on a 24-bit I/O.

"With the rise in home and small-format production studios, and the shift in the 'standard' to high sample-rate digital source material, it was necessary that consumers have access to appropriate expansion options," states Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager, Yamaha Professional Audio. "The addition of 16-channels and more available card slots provides these options."
