Yamaha introduced the 61-key PSR273 Portable Keyboard at this year's Winter NAMM show. Available in July 2003 at an MSRP of $219.95, the PSR273 features 61 piano-sized keys and a selection of some of the best voices available today, thanks in part to Yamaha's XG-Lite voice set. The unit includes 480 instrument voices, 32 notes of polyphony and Yamaha's Portable Grand technology--which reproduces the most realistic piano sound available in portable keyboards today.

The built-in Yamaha Education Suite (YES II) teaching system contains over 100 songs to learn, teaching note reading and chords in seven steps. YES II will even count down the beat and offer feedback, just like a real teacher.

Other features include DSP, reverb and chorus effects, plus dual voice layering and split voice, which allow two different voices to be played at the same time. All functions may be viewed via an easy-to-read backlit LCD display.

Using the MIDI IN/OUT connections and a PC button for quick online connection, users can take lessons on a computer or the Internet. The Yamaha PSR273 may be enjoyed through headphones or through the stereo speaker system with bass ports, and can be powered by six D-cell batteries or a Yamaha PA3C power adapter.
