Roland introduced the VK-8M Organ Sound Module. This new module puts Roland's "Virtual ToneWheel" organ sounds–complete with COSM Amp and Rotary Speaker Modeling–in a convenient desktop design with retro-styled wood side panels. The VK-8M also features new Active Expression for blending in an external sound via pedal, plus Roland's D Beam controller for easy realtime control. The VK-8M is the perfect choice for musicians who want the finest organ sounds in a space-saving module. The VK-8M uses the same Virtual ToneWheel sound engine of the popular VK-8 Combo Organ. Nine harmonic bars and intuitive front-panel knobs make it easy to adjust the organ sound in any way desired. Full editing is supported, allowing players to dive into such detailed parameters as leakage level and rotary woofer speed. A total of 36 user registrations are provided for storing edited sounds. New to the VK-8M is Roland's COSM Amp Modeling technology. Four different amp types are available for creating organ tones from clean to gritty. The newly developed COSM Amp Type IV stands out in particular for its killer gain stage and crunchy distortion effect. Roland's Active Expressive feature lets players slowly fade in a sound from an external source like a synthesizer or MIDI module. Simply connect the output to the VK-8M's Line input, and use an optional expression pedal to control the fade. And with Roland's D Beam controller, players can control various preset functions–such as rotary speed (Slow/Fast) or tone wheel motor stops–by waving their hand over an infrared beam of light. The D Beam's LED even changes color with the proximity of the player's hand–great for live performance. Connections to the VK-8M include a stereo Line input, stereo Line outputs, an Expression Pedal input, MIDI In and Out, and a stereo Headphones jack. An optional bracket may be purchased for mounting the VK-8M on a stand. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.rolandus.com/.
