PR8MKII 8-Channel Mic Pre Launched at NAMM

January 16, 2003

Prototype Front Panel

The new SM PR8MKII multi-channel microphone preamplifier is being released at the Winter NAMM 2003.

The SM PR8MKII is a 2U standard 19" rack-mount multi-channel preamplifier that builds on the success of the popular SM PR8 multi-channel microphone preamp with a total redesign of layout and components used. With eight discrete high-quality microphone preamps and with the addition of an optional ADAT light pipe output, the SM PR8 MKII seamlessly fits into many digital audio workstation configurations. It also features 8 analog combo balanced/unbalanced inputs, insert points and +4dB/-10dB XLR and 1/4" analog outputs for pristine stand-alone operation.

Tailored to suit a wide variety of applications, the SM PR8MKII is well suited for use as a front-end device for many hard disk recording systems, as well as adding additional mic pre's to digital mixers and sound cards.

Feature Summary:

  • 8 discrete microphone preamplifiers
  • Ultra-Wide Dynamic Range
  • Low-Noise Operating Levels
  • XLR Inputs & Outputs
  • Insert point on all Channels
