Continuing its tradition of listening to the requests of drumming's hottest hitters, the Zildjian Company introduces a new K Custom High Definition Ride. Developed in conjunction with Terri Lyne Carrington, this High Definition Ride adds breadth and diversity to this very dark and unique range.

Working with Zildjian, Terri Lyne honed in on the sound of the High Definition Ride while on the road and in the studio in a variety of electric and acoustic settings. Available in 22" size the innovative design of the K Custom High Definition Ride creates a uniquely versatile cymbal with great definition and plenty of tone, that is at home in both electric and acoustic situations.

"I heard a cymbal sound in my head for a long time and finally through trial and error, got this sound to be a reality in the new High Definition Ride." Said Terri Lyne. She continued, "It was important to me to have a Ride cymbal that could transcend style and even transcend the size of a venue. It was important to have a Ride cymbal that spoke my personality no matter what musical situation I am in. This cymbal does this for me. It speaks with great definition, but has enough tone to not feel too dry. Though it feels reminiscent of an old K or a Constantinople in some respects, it has a new contemporary sound that I feel both younger players and seasoned veterans will like."

Terri Lyne Carrington was one of the first women drummers to reach a level of excellence where gender became irrelevant. While still a child, Carrington developed a reputation in the Boston area by jamming with such jazz luminaries as Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson and Clark Terry. At age 11 she was awarded a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music and soon afterward made her first recording "TLC and Friends." She has worked with Stan Getz, Pharoah Sanders, Dianne Reeves, David Sanborn, Wayne Shorter, Al Jarreau and most recently with Herbie Hancock. Terri Lyne's latest CD "Jazz is a Spirit" was just released on the ACT label featuring a stellar line up of musicians. She recently performed with her own group at the Jazz at Lincoln Center "Year of the Drum" Concert Series.
