At NAMM 2004, Allen&Heath will be introducing the iDR-4 to complement the iDR
family of installed and live sound systems. Based on the same technology as
the iDR-8 system, iDR-4 is a four input, four output digital processor with
additional two input, two output, dual-function monitor channels, ideal for
smaller installations which also makes full use of the iDR accessories for
expansion.
There will also be three new products in the accompanying series of PL
remote controller panels. PL-7 is a stand-alone or surface mounted LCD
panel, which, using the PL-Anet interface on CAT-5 cable and connectors
enables remote display of status information and text messages which can be
stored in the recallable memory settings. The PL-7 can be embedded with PL-3
or PL-4 wall plates, thus allowing programmable control from a single unit.
PL-8 is a four input, four output logic control panel mounted on a wall
plate which can be connected to PL-Anet. It is designed to interface
external systems such as alarm systems, juke boxes, screens and lights.
To provide even more flexibility for the remote control of iDRs using
PL-Anet, the PL-9 hub has been introduced. It is a 1U rack- or desk-mount
unit that provides up to seven individual connections to chains of PL
devices, simplifying wiring, eliminating the need for complex
daisy-chaining. This also provides the benefit of longer cable runs and
allows easier 'plug and play' of devices such as the PL-6.
Allen&Heath has additionally launched the latest version of the
Windows-based iDR Software Manager that configures iDR hardware
components into an integrated audio distribution system. Version 3.3 has
been developed to support the new iDR-4 signal processor and PL-9 "hub"
unit, and to reflect the familiar Windows-style
applications and navigation, including copy, paste and save functions
between presets and DSP devices.
