At the Winter NAMM show, Alvarez Guitars announced three new Alvarez Yairi guitars; the Masterworks DYM95V 12 fret dreadnought, the DYM90 ovangkol dreadnought, and the WY1BR acoustic/electric.
The DYM95V features a slotted head stock, 12-fret neck, and a 1_-inch nut width. The 12 fret neck joint alters the bridge location from a standard dreadnought and makes for a powerful and distinct tone. The DYM95V is especially useful for finger stylists and other fans of tradionally styled instruments. The DYM95V also features dovetail neck joint construction, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, an ebony fingerboard and patented Yairi direct coupled bridge. The suggested list price is $2,899.
The DYM90 Masterworks dreadnought features solid Western Red Cedar top with hand-scalloped braces and solid ovangkol back and sides, producing a brilliant tone with excellent projection. The DYM90 also utilizes an ebony fingerboard and Yairi direct coupled bridge and dovetail neck joint. The suggested list price is $2,149.
The WY1BR acoustic/electric is the latest version of the Alvarez Yairi Virtuoso Series, co-designed with Bob Weir. It features a naturally aged solid Spruce top with scalloped bracing and highly figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides, providing both exquisite grain patterns and a rich tone. The WY1BR also features an ebony fingerboard and Yairi direct coupled bridge, and a 600TMK II preamp/EQ with built-in digital tuner. The suggested list price is $2,599.
