PRESS RELEASE

New Model 1100 MkII from Aphex

January 21, 2004

Aphex Systems announced the release of its newest microphone preamp, the Model 1100 MkII. Building upon the Model 1100, the MkII offers a wider feature set and an even lower noise floor while going from a microphone into the digital domain.

The Aphex Model 1100 MkII is a wide dynamic range microphone preamplifier, featuring patented technology in a discrete Class-A Tube design with an integral 24-bit 192 kHz A/D Converter. The MkII is even quieter than its predecessor, with an EIN of better than -135dBu and also features a stereo, optical S/PDIF and a full-featured AES/EBU digital audio output. Separate 1/4" jacks (in and out) are also provided for insert points. Applications for the new Aphex 1100 MkII include multitrack and live recording; radio and television broadcasting; remote sound; and postproduction tasks such as ADR and Foley.

The 1100 MkII also features MicLim, a limiter that controls the output of the microphone before the preamplifier. Especially important for keyboards, synthesizers, bass, and acoustic guitars, as well as vocals, the Aphex mic level limiter controls the transient spikes that could ruin an otherwise perfect take. Vocal and instrument tracks are transparently recorded without concerns of overload or distortion allowing the performance to flow.

The new Aphex Model 1100 MkII is available now at a suggested retail price of $2495.
