Hot on the heels of last year's Body Art guitar program, B.C. Rich has announced that its new 2004 Body Art models go even further to set the brand apart. Now, in addition to new models featuring graphics on their topsides, select Body Art instruments come with innovative new bridge plate designs that extend across the guitar tops to create unique shapes, such as razor wire, blades, lightning and flames.
B.C. Rich's new Body Art bridges take a traditional bridge plate and, going beyond the norm, turn it into a piece of art. Made of solid brass that is chrome-plated, the Body Art Bridge System actually improves guitar tone by increasing sustain and enhancing attack characteristics. In fact, the added vibrations that are transferred from the strings to the bridge can be felt through the guitar body while playing.
There are four B.C. Rich Body Art guitars that feature the new bridges: "Razor," a Beast model; "Evil Edge," a Mockingbird; "Voltage," a JR. V model; and "Afterburner," a Warlock.
For the 2004 graphic-topped guitar models, the company once again worked with renowned visual artist Bruce Kroeber, who has provided the artwork for "The Fly" and "Forty Lashes," a stunning new work influenced by Savador Dali that depicts multiple eyeballs. Both guitars are sure to stop retail customers in their tracks.
And for the first time, B.C. Rich enlisted the skills of award-winning weapons designer Kit Rae, who provided the art for "Umethar," a new graphic for the B.C. Rich JR. V model. Kit Rae's weapons have been associated with blockbuster shows such as "Star Trek" and "The X-Files" and films such as "Natural Born Killers" and "Queen of the Damned." In addition to designing the Indiana Jones Khyber Bowie and the Isis Dagger, Kit Rae also has supervised many licensed movie knife reproductions for films such as "Terminator II," "Total Recall," "The Mask of Zorro" and "The Lord of the Rings." He has also created custom designs for companies like Harley-Davidson and Colt.
