Eventide announced that shipments of its new H8000 have begun. Based on the Orville platform, the H8000 processor features eight channels of digital I/O and 5.1 surround capabilities, offering end-users more channels and greater processing power than ever before.

According to Ray Maxwell, Eventide vice president of sales and marketing, "The H8000 has three key components that set it apart from our current offerings. First, the new OS features Monolithic Tandem allows both DSP chips to run together at a higher clock speed to produce large, complex 5.1 algorithms up to 96 kHz sample rates. Second, the expanded I/O capability allows eight channels in and out with flexible routing capabilities. The third important development comes in its search and sort capabilities. With the OS 3.0, the Orville exceeded 1,000 preset-algorithms. Now, with the H8000 we are shipping with over 1,600 including over 70 dedicated 5.1 reverb and effects preset-algorithms alone. While that number includes many duplicates for different sample rates and routing configurations it still represents the most comprehensive library of digital effects ever assembled in one product."

The H8000 features eight channels of digital I/O via AES/EBU, ADAT, and two channels of S/PDIF, all 24-bit. The analog section features two channels of 24-bit A/D/A converters with a s/n >110dB, and includes XLR and line inputs.

The preset-algorithms are easily sorted by the improved search engine functionality. The user can sort by source type, effect type, preset number, sample rate, number of inputs, or number of outputs, as well as multiple user tags. Each preset is a combination of effects chosen from Eventide's library of over two hundred and thirty unique effects modules, connected together in unique configurations via its "Anything-to-Anything Routing" capability, and are finely crafted for a particular function or effect. The H8000 is fully supported by VSIG, Eventide's PC graphic editor/development tool which is available on Eventide's web site.
