Native Instruments Limits Development to XP and OS X January 19, 2004
Native Instruments now fully embraces the numerous advantages that Windows XP and Mac
OS X have to offer over their predecessors in terms of performance,
stability and usability.
All future development efforts will be completely focused on
Windows XP and Mac OS X to ensure the best possible user experience on these
powerful platforms.
In 2003, Native Instruments has dedicated a huge amount of development
effort to ensure optimal performance of new and existing products under
Windows XP and Mac OS X. All current NI software products are now available
for Mac OS X, including support for technologies like AudioUnits, CoreAudio
and CoreMIDI, while Windows versions have seen numerous updates for RTAS and
Windows XP compatibility in the last months.
Consequently, older versions of Microsoft's and Apple's operating systems
will no longer be supported in the future. Mac versions of new products as
well as updates for existing products will be made available exclusively for
Mac OS X. Upcoming Windows versions will be developed and optimized for
performance and compatibility exclusively for Windows XP.
The Native Instruments customer support will of course continue to serve
users of older Windows and Mac OS versions.
