Eight-Inch Floor Monitor Added to Radian's MicroWedge Line

Radian Audio Engineering's
compact RMW-1108 made its debut at this year's Winter NAMM Show. The latest addition to the company's MicroWedge series
of ultra-compact, ultra-low profile coaxial floor monitors, the Radian
RMW-1108 comprises an 8-inch woofer with one-inch compression driver that is
capable of delivering 400Watts (program).
Although only half the size of the 12-inch RMW-1122, the RMW-1108 maintains
the same sonic signature of the larger MicroWedge systems, offering a smooth
frequency response, low distortion, and an even, wide dispersion from a
single coherent point source, according to the company. The frequency response of the RMW-1108 wedge
monitor is 100Hz to 20kHz.
The new 8-inch addition to the MicroWedge series delivers 200W RMS
with a sensitivity of 95dB (1W/1m) and provides uniform coverage through its
nominal 90-degree conical dispersion characteristic. The system's
specification makes it ideal for on-stage monitoring of vocals, keyboards,
guitars, brass and other instruments in smaller touring or installed sound
reinforcement systems, and also lends itself to applications such as
broadcast, corporate, and houses of worship.
The smallest of the MicroWedge products, the RMW-1108 weighs-in at just 21
pounds despite utilizing the exact same robust construction methods and
materials as the 12- and 15-inch MicroWedge systems. Like all Radian
Professional Series loudspeaker systems, the new RMW-1108 is made of
3/4-inch, 13-ply Baltic birch and is finished with Radian's exclusive
rugged, scratch-resistant and waterproof Duradian(tm) finish.
Like the RMW-1122 12-inch and RMW-1152 15-inch MicroWedge systems, the
RMW-1108 incorporates a front port for concealed cable management, with two
parallel Speakon connectors. An additional, rear-mounted Speakon connector
allows the 8-inch RMW-1108 to be used as a meterbridge-mounted speaker on
front of house and monitor consoles.
The RMW-1108 shares the low profile enclosure
design of the rest of the MicroWedge product line, which not only reduces
interference with the audience's line-of-sight but also permits multiple
systems to be arrayed in a very tight arc. Overall dimensions of the
RMW-1108 are just 9 inches (H) x 11 3/4 inches (W) x 14 inches (D).
