January 15, 2004New from Roland is the V-Drums V-Tour Series TD-6S. This new V-Drums configuration includes the new TD-6V module with all-new kits and patterns, a PD-80R mesh V-Pad for snare drum, new gum rubber pads with dual-trigger capabilities and an improved vertical kick trigger.
The new TD-6V Percussion Sound Module features a cool new look with a black case and blue LCD screen. Like the previous TD-6 module it features 1,024 S drum and percussion sounds and 262 backing instruments, but with newly created drum kits and patterns. New dual-trigger tom inputs allow for rim shots on toms, giving drummers even more expressive capability.
Aside from the updated module, the TD-6S also comes with a new assortment of pads and cymbals, starting with the PD-80R mesh V-Pad for snare drum. This dual-trigger pad allows for separate head and rim sounds and provides the most natural feel possible. For toms and hi-hat, Roland includes four of the new PD-8 dual-trigger pads. These durable rubber pads allow for rim triggering on toms and bow/edge sounds on the hi-hat, which is controlled with the new FD-8 Hi-Hat Controller.
For cymbals, Roland includes two new CY-8 Cymbal Pads, which feature a unique "swinging" motion and "choke" capabilities. The new KD-8 Kick Trigger is also an improvement, thanks to its vertical design for more natural playing and reduced tremble; it also works with double bass pedals. Rounding out this system is the MDS-6SL, a durable drum stand with a silver finish.
