Sibelius Announces Kontakt Player Gold for Sibelius 3Collaboration With Native Instruments Brings Sample-Based Player to Notation Software January 22, 2004
Sibelius Software in collaboration with software synthesis company Native Instruments, announced the launch of Kontakt Player Gold for its Sibelius 3 music notation software. Kontakt Player Gold includes significant audio, instrumental and playback enhancements, and is compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows platforms.
Kontakt Gold enables users to play back music using instrumental samples, burn compositions to CD and create audio files for posting on the Internet. An abridged version called Kontakt Player Silver is currently included with Sibelius 3.
Currently available at an MSRP of $149, Kontakt Player Gold includes 64 instrumental and 100 high-quality percussion sounds from well known and high quality sample houses, including Sonic Implants, Peter Seidlaczek, North Star and Zero-G.
The actual sounds--some of which were recorded specifically for Kontakt Player Gold include some hard-to-find, yet in-demand, instruments: flugelhorn, handbells, strings col legno, various choir vowels and marching toms. Additional features include a full spectrum of lower range woodwind, string and brass timbres, string bowing techniques, plus male and female voices. Users may access up to 32 different sounds in the same score.
System requirements for scores using up to about 8 different sounds include: 1 GHz processor (Windows) or G4/G5 (Mac), with 256Mb free RAM. For scores that use more sounds: Pentium 4 or Athlon XP, 256Mb+ RAM, preferably separate sound and/or graphics cards (Windows) or G4/G5, 512Mb free RAM, preferably separate sound card (Mac).
