Zoom Debuts New Fire Modeling Guitar Combos at NAMM

January 29, 2004

Zoom has updated their line of Fire guitar amplifier combos with the new Fire-15 MkII, Fire-15M MkII, Fire-30M, and Fire-60M. The full line boasts Zoom's guitar effects processing in powerful compact enclosures, now with the "M" option that gives you built in direct microphone recording outputs.

The Fire-15 MkII and Fire-15M MkII features 22 modeling effects, with 10 user and 10 preset memory patches, with 15 watts of RMS power driving a high output 8" speaker in a closed back cabinet. The "M" model features a single built-in condenser microphone positioned in front of the speaker with an XLR/phone hybrid mic output on the rear panel, for direct output guitar recording.

The bigger and more powerful Fire-30M features 22 modeling effects with 10 user and 20 preset patches, with 36 watts of RMS power driving a 10" high output speaker in an open back cabinet. The "M" model of the new Fire-30 has two built in condenser microphones, in two different locations giving you the option of which direct microphone signal you want to record.

The completely new Zoom Fire-60M has 60 watts of RMS power driving a larger 12" high output speaker in a open backed cabinet, with 25 total modeling effects, 40 user and 20 preset memory patches, and the capability of choosing a combination of the three built in condenser microphones for direct microphone recording. The XLR/phone hybrid rear panel allows you to record direct from the selected microphones and pre-amp output section with no further digital processing, so you get a true live miced cabinet sound to your recording device.

The new Fire combos include a full complement of Zoom guitar effects. Standards like Chorus, Flanger, Phase, Delay, and Reverb as well as modern sounds like Ring Modulator and Slow Attack, and every effect can be adjusted in intensity. They also offer four post-effect processing tools including Boost, Sustain, Edge and Bottom. Control knobs allow you to adjust Level, Gain and a three band EQ with Bass, Middle and Treble controls, as well as a built-in auto chromatic tuner.

The Fire-30M and Fire-60M models feature an independent control section for Delay and Reverb effects. A Type/Time control selects the type and the duration of the effect. The corresponding Mix knob adjusts the depth of the Delay or Reverb. The Fire-30 also features a Modulation control that allows the user to control the intensity of modulation effects with the turn of a dial.

All Zoom Fire Combos also provide Zoom ZNR noise reduction, CD/AUX input/output jack, and a Power Damp Switch that lets you play at a low volume without losing the sound of your selected effects.
