January 26, 2004

Ampeg's newest addition to the PortaBass line, the PB800 head is designed for the experienced and active bass player who enjoys playing a variety of styles and instruments including electric upright. With output at such a small weight, the PB800 offers both portability and flexibility.

The PB800 features two independent channels for players who use more than one bass on a gig. Players can plug in an electric bass and upright into separate channels with discrete EQ and volume controls. In addition, the PB800 delivers 550 watts at 4 ohms, and 800 watts at 2 ohms for massive tone and a variety of speaker options.

The PB800 also has a transformer balanced line out with level control for easy and quiet patching to the front of house or recording console. Finally, its MDT power amp circuitry is 95 percent efficient, meaning the PB800 delivers all of its power with almost no heat build up, all at only 20 pounds.
