NAMM: Ampeg Intros New Tube Bass Preamp

January 26, 2004

(Click for a close-up)

Ampeg introduced the SVPCL at NAMM, the all-tube preamp section of Ampeg's popular SVTCL all-tube head featuring two 12AX7 and two 12AU7 preamp tubes for classic all-tube Ampeg tone shaping. The SVPCL is for those who look for the authentic, vintage SVT tube tone but also like to use modular setups and prefer simplified "plug and play" controls.

The SVPCL can be used as a live stage preamp or as a studio tube preamp. It features a 5-position ultra low control for a variety of low frequency settings, from the traditional SVT to a modern ultra low boost and everything in between. It also features a tuner out with a mute switch for quite tuning and instrument changes on stage and a transformer balanced line out for the quietest connection to the front of the house or recording console.

The SVPCL has simplified controls and circuitry for easy tone setting, and features three bands of rotary EQ with a five-position mid select for easy and quick tone shaping and setting.
