Loading an experimental, Anderson-built mini-humbucking pickup into the neck position of a specially outfitted Cobra Test-Unit seemed like a rather routine musical experiment. While they were at it, they also routed a spot to insert a middle mini as well–probably just to make things more interesting. And Anderson Pickupworks joined in by preparing a totally new and innovative coil design for the occasion. According the company, the neck tone is full and clear and yet not the least bit too thick for rhythm parts–like a full-sized humbucker can be for some players. When clicking through the other pickup combinations–neck and middle, middle with bridge (split), middle with bridge (full), bridge full or split alone, all 3 pickups or neck and bridge, you will experience classic single-coil-type tones. Now any Cobra-style guitar can be ordered with Anderson's new M-Series pickups. Loaded with an M1, M1 & M2 pickup configuration, the new Cobra offers guitar tones between single coil and humbucker. Accessorize with the M1, M1 & M3 array and the M3 pickup, in the bridge position, acts as a stepped-up, full size, vintage humbucker hidden in a mini package.
