Ego Systems Inc. announced the M-fire M9600 a stand-alone 24-bit/96kHz DVD recorder designed as a stereo mastering deck. This 3-rack space unit supports the existing DVD-Video format, allowing finished discs to be played back on any standard DVD player. The M-fire is fully functional as a rewritable machine and utilizes DVD-RW media as well as DVD-R's, CDR's and CDRW's. In CD mode, discs are written at 16-bit/44.1kHz. Features of the M-fire include a straight-forward, tape deck style, button layout and user friendly VFD display menu. Stereo analog inputs and outputs are equipped with superior quality 24-bit/96kHz converters. Both S/PDIF coaxial and AES/EBU digital formats are supported for the digital I/O. Other standard features include a wireless remote control and a 1/4-inch headphone monitor port with volume control. The M-fire offers over 120 minutes of 24-bit/96kHz audio on a standard DVD-R. Keep the digital audio resolution from mix to master stage while you can monitor mix master through a conventional DVD player up to 96kHz 24-bit. For the shorter audio works, you can even use CD-R(RW) medium. User can record longer audio contents using relatively lower resolution (24/48, or 16/48 format), over 4~6 hours of longer audio program can be stored in a single DVD-R (RW) medium with index feature on the desired points.
