Expansion Card Adds FireWire I/O to Onyx Analog Mixers
January 15, 2004
Advertisement At this year's Winter NAMM show, Mackie introduced an optional FireWire card for the new ONYX family of premium analog mixers. The 24-bit/96kHz Onyx FireWire card can be installed in any of the ONYX mixers (1220, 1620 & 1640) to provide a combination of direct outputs (from every single input channel on the mixer) and the L-R mix directly into a FireWire equipped computer, and, at the same time, return 2 channels of computer audio back to the mixer for monitoring through the control room/phones matrix. "Installing the FireWire option card into an Onyx mixer opens a world of application and configuration possibilities," commented Dan Steinberg, Product Development Manager for the Onyx line. "For example, with the FireWire card installed, the mixers are an ideal front end for a digital audio workstations or, when combined with a laptop computer, they make an affordable multitrack interface for portable live recording." The FireWire Option Card will be available in Q1, 2004 for a manufacturers suggested retail price of $499.99 USD. Key Features:
