PRESS RELEASE
Upcoming Film to Document the World of Bob Moog
January 24, 2004
Advertisement From the production team that brought you Frontier Life (2003), director Hans Fjellestad and producer Ryan Page are halfway through production of MOOG: a feature length documentary film that explores the revolutionary world of electronic musical instrument pioneer Robert Moog. Director Hans Fjellestad explains, "I'm very much focused on Bob's ideas about creativity, interactivity, spirituality, as well as the raft of stories in the man's head. This is very much an "in Bob's own words" piece. Artists such as Stereolab, The Neptunes, Devo, Meat Beat Manifesto, Tortoise, DJ Spooky, The Cure, Money Mark, Luke Vibert, 33, The Album Leaf, Pete Devriese, Bostich, Charlie Clouser, Baiyon, Suzanne Ciani, Electric Skychurch and others are contributing original music produced on Moog instruments for the film's soundtrack. Moog has not only made prodigious contributions to modern music and culture, but he has become a character within an unfolding "American maverick inventor" mythology. Still active in his workshop in rural North Carolina, Moog continues to shape musical culture with some of the most inspiring instruments ever created. The film is currently shooting on location in North Carolina, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and London. A theatrical and soundtrack release is currently being finalized by producer Ryan Page for Summer 2004. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.moogmusic.com/.
