FireWire is making headway into the sound card market, and TerraTec Electronic is introducing a product using this technology: the Aureon 7.1 FireWire. It will be hitting the shelves in January 2004, priced at 249 euros (Germany). Opening your computer's case and installing expansion cards is history: thanks to its new, lightning-fast FireWire technology, you can keep your screwdriver in the toolbox. It's easy: install the drivers, plug it in and go! Analog line and phono (with preamp) inputs and digital I/O (S/PDIF, optical) are available for connections to your other audio equipment. It even features a microphone input for vocalists (1/4" jack) with a gain control and peak LED. If you aren't able to crank out 7.1 surround sound, then simply tone things down by using the headphone connection with its separate volume control. Whether you're using speakers or headphones, the system provides up to 24-bit/192-kHz signal processing. You can also control the Aureon 7.1 FireWire's functions and those of all other common PC multimedia applications from the comfort of your sofa with the infrared remote control. Key features:
