Ashdown to Debut Fallen Angel DSP Series at NAMM

FA40 DSP FA60 DSP Combos

January 17, 2005

New for NAMM, Ashdown's Fallen Angel DSP series combines all-tube pre and power stages with onboard digital effects, an industry first according to the company.

The Fallen Angel amplifiers are dedicated to full-on power, sustain, and ton, capable of delivering harmonically rich overdrives with a fat bottom end for bone crunching power chords, and soaring, saturated solo voicings for lead guitar. Now, with the inclusion of state-of-the-art digital processing, the new Fallen Angel DSP series provides a wider range of tonal possibilities.

The series consists of a 40-Watt 1x12" combo, a 60-Watt 2 x 12" combo and a 60-Watt head, each of which shares the same comprehensive feature set and is fuelled by a quartet of 12AX7 preamp tubes and a EL84-driven power output stage.

Central to the Fallen Angel DSP sound is a twin channel facility that equips each model a wide palette of clean and crunch tones, with channel selection provided via a front panel switch and a rear panel footswitch connection. Both channels offer Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass and Volume controls, while Channel 2 features an extra Boost control to allow extreme overdrive settings.

16 internal DSP effects - including four Chorus, four Flanger and eight Delay programs - are all accessed via a front panel rotary switch, and can be switched in and out of circuit by either a front panel switch or an external footswitch. Additionally, an internal DSP Reverb is provided with its own level control -- this feature has been specially created for guitar use.

Other neat features include dual Master Volume controls (selectable via front panel or external footswitch), a retro-style illuminated Output Power level meter, external Effects Send/Return sockets with an Effects Return level control, and a line level recording output with speaker emulation.
