The January NAMM Show in Anaheim saw the debut of the new Ibanez Artwood flagship model, the AW1400NT. "The AW1400NT is our first Artwood to feature solid rosewood back and sides, " commented Ibanez Shvartsman of Ibanez Acoustic Guitars. "It reminds some of the Ibanez old-timers here of the original '70s and '80s TAMA guitars that featured all-solid wood bodies. So in a way we've returned to where we began: having guitars with the performing professional player in mind."
The AW1400 joined two other Ibanez Artwood firsts at the NAMM Show, a model in all quilted maple--top, back, and sides, and a grand-concert sized model with walnut back and sides
Like most of the Ibanez 2005 Acoustic line, all Ibanez Artwoods feature ultra-hard Ivorex II nuts and saddles, Advantage bridge pins which allow easy string changes with complete string security, and D'Addario EXP long-life strings. For 2005, all acoustic-electric Artwoods feature balanced 1/4" and XLR outputs.
Ibanez Artwood guitars are the descendents of the TAMA guitars made by Ibanez in the late '70s and very early '80s. Artwood guitars have the hallmark feature of solid tops complemented by High Vibration bracing. Most Artwoods are the popular dreadnought size, but Artwoods are also available in grand concert and jumbo sizes. The guitars are considered by guitar retailers as one of the finest values available on the market.
Advantage Bridge Pins are a real advantage over old-fashioned pins. Advantage pins are easier to take out and easier to put in than standard pins. A special bulb-shaped end makes the pin easy to grip and also prevents the pin from being pushed in too far. Best of all, the pin and string stay put.
