As a part of the ongoing development of the TT24 Digital Live Console, Mackie announced a number of significant new features that will be available in the soon-to-be-released TT24 Version 1.2 firmware update. Mackie also announced today, two new TT24 expansion cards planned for delivery during Q2, 2005, and offered a sneak-peek at an upcoming Digital Snake designed specifically for use with the TT24.

New Features with Version 1.2 Firmware

A total of ten new features are being implemented with the upcoming version 1.2 firmware release for the TT24, including three built-in 31-band graphic equalizers (for Left, Right and Center channel outputs), eight dedicated mute groups, scrolling snapshots for faster access, and a user-customizable fader bank for improved workflow.

Snapshot filtering capabilities, previously accessible remotely via the TTControl PC application, have been added to the TT24's Quick Mix section. In addition, Select-follows-Solo functionality makes channel EQ and dynamics adjustments even faster and easier for the operator. Channel DSP can now be globally assigned to either the Analog bank (default) or to the Digital Bank -- convenient for mixing down pre-recorded performances from digital recorders. Users can also streamline their mixing capabilities by selecting from three individual V-Pot response profiles. And an internal effects preset dial now includes an easy-to-read display and associated rotary encoder, for quicker auditioning and selection of effects presets.

New Expansion Cards

The UFXII DSP card adds to the TT24's already considerable DSP horsepower, adding 24 additional channels of EQ and Compression for a total of 48 fully DSP functional channels. The new U100 Console Networking Card enables the TT24 to communicate with proprietary external devices such as a second TT24 for dual-console integration, which when interfaced with 6 Onyx 800R 8-channel mic preamps, makes for a fully-expanded 96 mic input system. Both the UFXII and U100 will be available in Q2, 2005.

Digital Snake

Finally, Mackie previewed a Digital Snake designed specifically for use with the TT24 console. The new Digital Snake offers up to 32x32 channels of I/O, and interfaces with a U100 equipped TT24 via standard CAT-5 cable (up to 300 feet in length). The Digital Snake features 24 state-of-the-art mic preamps and converters in a stage box, and provides remote control of the input gain from the TT24 console. By placing the microphone preamps and converters on stage, the signal degradation typically associated with lengthy, cumbersome analog snakes is eliminated.

TT24 firmware Version 1.2 will be available as a free download from www.mackie.com in February 2005. The three new expansion cards will be available in Q2, 2005.
