SLS Introduces P-LS8695 Powered Compact Line Array
January 20, 2005
SLS Loudspeakers introduced their P-LS8695 Powered Compact Line Array speaker system at Winter NAMM 2005. The new system is a powered version of the LS8695 Compact Line Source Array.
The P-LS8695 incorporates a 24-bit, 96kHz DSP processing engine that was developed utilizing acoustic performance algorithms optimized for the original LS8695. The processing engine presents maximally flat response, while maintaining the sonic fidelity associated with the system. Two high performance, high power digital amplifiers were incorporated to independently power the low & high frequency drivers. At the heart of the P-LS8695 is a high-voltage, high current power supply capable of maintaining amplifier supply rails under demanding loads and transients.
The integrated low frequency amplifier provides a thundering 1000 Watts of power to drive the ultra clean low and mid frequency ranges, while the integrated high frequency amp provides 500 Watts of power to high frequencies capable of meeting the enhanced bandwidth of today's 24-bit, 96kHz digital format. The input to the amplifier section is fully balanced with adjustable sensitivity and a balanced transmitter is included for looping multiple P-LS8695 systems.
A selectable 80kHz High Pass Filter for the low frequency section when using the P-LS8695 with an additional subwoofer is available. An LED status indication for power, protect, peak, and signal presence rounds out the feature set.
