January 29, 2005

The SansAmp Para Driver DI pedal offers tone shaping for any signal source. Similar in concept to its predecessor, the SansAmp Acoustic DI, this new design incorporates a Drive control and a footswitchable bypass.

The SansAmp Para Driver DI, which could also be considered as a pedal version of the SansAmp RPM rackmount, is useful with acoustic, electric and bass guitars, and upright bass. The proprietary, 100% analog SansAmp circuitry eliminates the unnatural harmonics of piezo pickups, according to the company. Engineered for both live and studio applications, SansAmp Para Driver DI is designed for use in conjunction with instrument amplifiers and to go direct into the mixing console of a recorder or P.A. system.

Active tone controls, Bass & Treble, cut or boost 12dB. The sweepable semi-parametric EQ controls, Mid Shift & Mid, range from 170Hz to 3.5 kHz, +/0 16dB, respectively. Blend mixes the amount of SansAmp emulation circuitry with the direct instrument signal. There's a 1/4-inch 4.7 megOhm instrument level input, as well as 1/4" and XLR outputs with selectable levels, and a parallel, uneffected output to run a dry signal to a separate channel. The unit can also be used as a standard direct box with EQ, or solely as a standard transparent direct box.
