Equipped with two new key features, TerraTec Producer's two audio systems PHASE 88 Rack FireWire and the EWS MIC2/8 FireWire Series may be employed on stage as basic MIDI-controlled line mixers and audio patch bays. To that end, the company offers a firmware update for Macs and PCs, as well as a driver and control panel update.
Both systems' performance have been optimized, and they now ship with more extensive setting options for ASIO latency. Latency values are now also indicated as buffer sizes. Some software applications (for example, effect plug-ins) require ASIO drivers' buffer to be determined manually to enable the application to compute latency compensation with utmost accuracy.
In stand-alone mode - that is, without the assistance of a connected computer - MIDI controller messages can be used to control remotely the digital mixer of the PHASE 88 Rack FW and the EWS MIC 2/8 FW system. Any analog or digital output may now be routed to any analog or digital input, respectively, on the control panel or via MIDI command. In addition, the digital mixer's master output may be routed to any output via MIDI controller message. MIDI controller commands also serve to determine the mixer's analog and digital input levels, as well as the master output level.
The new firmware upgrade should be available at the end of January 2005.
