Boneyard Pedalboard Added to Tonebone Lineup
January 27, 2005
Radial Engineering announced the Tonebone Boneyard, a pedalboard that features a large 15" x 35" slanted deck that provides easy access to multiple rows of pedals while also allowing cables to be hidden below for a clean and professional setup.
According to Radial president Peter Janis: "When we started shopping around for a pedalboard to demonstrate our Tonebone range, it quickly became apparent that no one really took the time to look at the problems surrounding pedalboards and come up with a good, versatile solution. Everything on the market was flat making it difficult to access multiple rows of pedals, had no provisions to hide the mess caused by the guitar cables and power supplies, and were either too small to be useful for a pro, too cheaply made to handle serious travel or too heavy to lug around. The Boneyard solves many of the problems by presenting an innovative wedge design with a slanted top deck that is Velcro friendly and pre-drilled to allow cables to pass underneath for a clean, professional look."
"We began by measuring the size of typical guitars such as Starts and Les Pauls. This dictated the minimum space required on stage since these guitars are approximately 36" wide from head to body. We then decided to make it narrow from front to back so that a mic stand could easily be nestled in close. After building a couple of 'flat' prototypes, it soon became apparent that we had to find a way to hide the mess of cables that we created. We also found that accessing a second row of pedals with ones foot could be difficult. The solution was a slanted design that could solve both problems at once! The rest was easy. "
The Boneyard is made from furniture grade plywood for maximum durability; it will not crumble when wet like particleboard does. A protective T-edge surround further protects the edges from damage. The top deck is covered with a super-stick Velcro friendly carpet that ensures the pedals will not move during use or in transit. Beneath the surface, a series of pre-drilled holes arranged in a matrix make it easy to route cables underneath for a clean professional look. The front vanity panel presents fans with a clean, non-obtrusive black panel that at once reduces pedal visibility while also serving to act as the support brace for the wedge design. The under side is sufficiently high to clear standard power supplies and two power bars.
Each Boneyard comes with under-panel mounting kit for cables and Velcro to attach pedals. An optional gig-bag may be ordered. Retail price is $150USD.
