Peavey used the Winter NAMM show to introduce the new FX Series mixing consoles, available in 16-, 24- and 32-channel versions with Silencer mic preamps, dual DSP engines, dual USB ports and built-in MP3 compression for exporting audio directly to a computer. FX Series mixers feature new, Peavey-exclusive technology to enhance live sound reproduction and project studio recording, including Silencer mic preamps, which allow very high gain with low noise and distortion. The Silencer is a low impedance amplifier engineered with low noise transistors and a wide dynamic range to accommodate any type of microphone or other low impedance source. The mixers' dual USB ports, which allow streaming of digital audio directly to a computer or memory stick, also feature exclusive, built-in MP3 compression. USB port A saves to memory stick, while USB port B sends the stereo output to a computer or hard disc for recording. With this feature, performers can rip a live performance or rehearsal directly to MP3 (or other digital format), or even save demos to memory stick and bring song ideas to rehearsal. The four pre-fader auxes per channel–used with four master aux controls–facilitate use as a live sound monitor mixer, while the two post-fader auxes are ideal for adding effects (those built-in or outboard). These mixers also include dual DSP engines that allow multiple simultaneous effects assignable to any channel via aux 5/6 or DSP engine 2. Onboard effects include reverb, delay, compression, de-esser, chorus and gate/expander. The FX Series allows digital editing of effects with a library for each effect, as well as channel EQ adjustment and crossover point assignment. There are also two output processors available in three modes–L/R stereo, L/R mono and L-mains/R-subwoofer with crossover–as well as additional processing such as Feedback Ferret, delay, limiter and 31-band graphic or seven-band parametric EQ. FX Series mixers also include four-band EQ with mid sweep on each channel; four buses with insert points; 80 Hz low-cut filter and insert points on all channels; headphone output; universal switch-mode power supply; and BNC lamp outputs on the 24FX and 32FX models. On all models, the last two channels have stereo 1/4" and XLR inputs with separate gain controls that can be used simultaneously. The stereo input can be assigned directly to the stereo output. The Peavey FX Series includes the rack-mountable, 16-channel 16FX; 24-channel 24FX; 32-channel 32FX; and the 16PFX, a rack-mountable, 16-channel, 500 Watts/channel model. All models: U.S. MSRP $TBA. The FX Series will be available in Q2 2005 from authorized Peavey dealers. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.peavey.com/.
