Sony is adding two new collections to its Sony Sound Series Loops & Samples line: "Steve Ferrone & Greg Ladanyi: Drums from the Big Room" and "Chicago Fire, A Dance Music Anthology." Both collections expand the potential options available to users for enhancing their music projects. "Steve Ferrone & Greg Ladanyi: Drums from the Big Room" is a five-CD collection of mixable, multitracked drum performances presented in 24-bit format. The collection features rock, pop, R&B, jazz, and reggae sessions, and offers an unprecedented level of user control. Produced by house music phenomenon Vince Lawrence, the Windy City native known as one of the original creators of "house" music, "Chicago Fire, A Dance Music Anthology," is a comprehensive five-CD collection that explores five different aspects of the club music experience: Deep House, Electro, Old School, Progressive, and Drum 'n' Bass. The collection is an authentic, perfectly balanced set of construction kits that provides everything consumers need to make complete tracks with the unmistakable Chicago Sound. Ferrone first won international prominence with the Average White Band. He has performed with Anita Baker, Chaka Khan, Duran Duran and Eric Clapton, and now plays with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Legendary producer Greg Ladanyi has worked on three Don Henley albums, including "Building The Perfect Beast," two Fleetwood Mac albums, including "Behind The Mask," four Toto CDs, including the Grammy-winning "Toto IV," and six Jackson Browne albums including "Running On Empty," "Hold Out" and "Lawyers In Love." "These Loops and Samples go far beyond a basic tick-tock drum beat," Ferrone said. "Their feel and sound are much more inspiring to allow a musician to sit down and start writing." Ladanyi added, "The end user can isolate and mix the drum kit elements individually, and blend in three different axes of room ambience. They'll have great sounding drums, all recorded acoustically on a digital platform, and it's all organic; the real deal. It's not about playing four bars, it's about capturing the feel and power of real playing the moment it's happening." Lawrence is an internationally recognized dance music innovator and co-author of the first recording officially designated as "house music." Credited with the initial organization of Trax Records, a seminal Chicago House label, he has discovered some of the dance world's greatest prodigies, including Marshall Jefferson ("Move your Body," "Ride the Rhythm," etc.), Adonis, Byron Styngly, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Ron Hardy, Screamin' Rachel and Jesse Saunders, while inspiring many others. Optimized for use in Sony ACID music creation programs, these collections of WAV files can be used in any PC or MAC program that supports this format. Applications that recognize the ACID file format metadata will benefit from being able to use this information for time stretching and pitch shifting purposes as well. Both collections are currently available at a suggested retail price of $249.95. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.sony.com/.
