NAMM: 3-Channel Bass Driver DI Debuts

January 29, 2005

Bass Driver DI Programmable
(Click for a close-up)

Tech 21 has taken their SansAmp Bass Driver DI design and made a 3-channel, programmable version for performing bassists. With a combination of a 100% analog signal path and convenient digital programmability, it features three independent footswitches and the same controls as their single channel Bass Driver –Drive, Bass, Treble, Presence, Blend and Level.

The unit is simple to operate. Changes can easily be made on the fly –without having to refer to the owner's manual. You just turn the knobs to a setting you like, double click on a footswitch and it's saved in that channel. You can create and program any three sounds, from vintage clean to overdrive to distortion, and access each one instantaneously.

The Programmable SansAmp Bass Driver DI can be used as a pre-amp or stomp box with any amp/combo, power amp and speaker cabinet, a Tech 21 Bass Power Engine 60, or direct into any mixing console. There's a 1/4-inch instrument level input, as well as 1/4" and XLR outputs with selectable levels.

Slightly larger than Tech 21's other floor models, the Programmable SansAmp Bass Driver DI measures 7.25"l x 5"w x 2"h in an all metal housing. It is phantom power operable, or utilizes an optional 9V DC power supply or 9V battery. Manufactured in the U.S.A. MSRP: $250.00.
