Sony Unveils New Generation Of Professional Headphone Performance
January 20, 2006
Sony's newest professional headphones, model MDR-7509HD, are designed to address the extraordinary frequency response presented by DSD and High Sampling PCM recording technologies, as well as the closed-type monitoring needs of serious sound professionals working with higher resolution digital audio recording and playback gear.
"The new MDR-7509HD headphones feature revolutionary new HD driver units capable of 80 kHz ultra-wide range reproduction," said Paul Foschino, senior manager for professional audio in Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Production Systems Division. "With their great tonal balance and extended frequency range, they can take full advantage of the 24 Bit/96 kHz expanded bandwidth achieved by products like Sony's revolutionary new PCM-D1 portable recorder. The MDR-7509HD's Auranomic circum-aural driver units have been designed to eliminate pressure on the ear during periods of extended use. Replacing Sony's long-time industry leader, the MDR-7509, they represent one of the most comfortable and technologically-advanced headphones on the market."
Key MDR-7509HD features include:
- HD driver units able to realize up to 80 kHz ultra wide range reproduction
- High power 3000mW power capacity for high level sound monitoring
- Closed type headphone design to eliminate unnecessary interference to or from the outside environment
- 360kJ/m³ high power neodymium magnets enable driver units to reproduce clear midrange
- Auranomic, circum-aural headphones designed in accordance with the angle of the ear to eliminate pressure and reproduce a natural, wide soundscape
The Sony MDR-7509HD professional headphone is planned to be available in March at a suggested list price of $265. For more information, visit their web site at www.sony.com.
