Sony Bundles MZ-M100 Hi MD Recorder With MDR-7506 Headphones

January 19, 2006

Sony is bundling a pair of its MDR-7506 Studio Monitor Headphones with each MZ-M100 Hi MD recorder purchased between January 1 and March 31, 2006.

The MZ-M100 field recorder is designed to provide musicians and broadcast professionals with superb sound recording and playback capabilities coupled with substantial storage capacity. According to Paul Foschino, senior manager for professional audio in Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Production Systems Division, combining the two made sense to offer users an effective product package.

"The MZ-M100 has been embraced by performers, engineers and working journalists," Foschino said. "High-quality recording and playback, exceptional uncompressed PCM linear audio and the ability to transfer files directly to computers for editing is an extremely efficient way to work. The MZ-M100's long battery life; removable, low-cost media, and easy-to-read display are equally responsible for the unit's wide-spread success. Bundling a pair of MDR 7506 headphones with each unit represents an exceptional value for our customers."

The MZ-M100 accepts removable 1GB MiniDiscs, for up to 94 minutes of uncompressed recording time, and up to 34 hours in ATRAC3 plus™ format. With a suggested list price of $7.00, the Hi-MD media enables users to inexpensively archive original recordings and makes data transfer effortless. A USB port for Macintosh® and Windows®/PC operating system provides connectivity for many pro recording applications including music, interviews and field recording.

The MDR-7506 headphones' 40mm driver unit and "Closed-Ear" style reduces external noise interference. A rugged design for real-world professional applications and folding construction for compact storage increases the headphones' user friendliness.

The Hi-MD MZ-M100 is available at a suggested list price of $439.95. The MDR-7506 headphones, which will be bundled with the Hi-MD MZ-M100 for this limited offer, are otherwise available at a suggested list price of $130.
