Wharfedale Professional, NAMM demonstration suite 205B, Level 2, proudly introduces the EVP-XP Series Loudspeakers, the powered version of the new EVP-X Series. With increased power handling and improved features (when compared to its predecessor the EVP-P Series), the EVP-XP offers unprecedented value for money and quality.
As with the new EVP-X (passive) series, the EVP-XP features the new Elliptical Waveguide Horn. The benefit of this new horn is the shape — there are no corners or parallel surfaces to distort the sound — which gives you a cleaner, smoother output. This horn is combined with the new Wharfedale 44mm titanium compression driver resulting in brilliant HF reproduction. The EVP-X12PM (12" stage monitor) and EVP-X15PM (15" stage monitor) feature a 5-band graphic equalizer accessible on the side of the unit. This allows the user more control over feedback and unwanted noise when monitoring. The stage monitors also have the added benefit of a Speaker Out‚ output that allows you to add on or daisy chain‚ a passive EVP-X12M or 15M into the system directly from the powered monitor.
The EVP-X15PB subwoofer includes a pair of integral 100Hz/24dB Octave crossovers to send a high passed, balanced line level stereo signal to a pair of powered satellite full range speakers or an external amplifier for passive satellite speakers. The subwoofers also feature a speaker level jack input. This input is useful where, for example, a single EVP-X15PB is being added to a pair of passive full range speakers (eg: EVP-X12), and connecting the new powered bass bin only requires a link from either of the full range cabinets. The EVP-XP has LEDs on the front panel — green which shows you that the unit is in operation and orange to show you when the protection circuitry is activated — similar to a CLIP LED on the front of an amplifier.
The power amplifier sections of the EVP-XP use Class A/B topology and are designed to integrate seamlessly, giving the optimum smooth performance across the range. The 12" models contain a 300W continuous/400W peak amplifier whilst all other models contain a 400W continous/600W peak amplifier. Dynamic/AGC protection circuitry provides extreme protection at both the driver and the amplifier stage — so you can play at maximum levels over long periods without fear of system failure.
