PRESS RELEASE
Three New Solid-Top Electric Guitar Models
January 30, 2006
Advertisement Canvas Guitars has unveiled three new electric models that are the first Chinese-produced electric guitars that have real solid tops – not laminated veneers, a significant advance in Chinese guitar production and a breakthrough in affordability for guitarists everywhere. The CMF50 Modern Series double-cutaway electric has a 14mm carved flame maple top on a mahogany body. Appointments include two alnico-5 humbuckers, die-cast gears, rosewood fingerboard, bow-tie inlays, and stop tailpiece. (The body style is based on the CMF10.) Suggested list price is $399.95. Also being offered at $399.95, the new CVB50 Electric Bass has a 3-D contoured body incorporating a 14mm carved Quilted maple top. It is a step-up model based on the CVB20 (recipient of rave reviews in the July 2005 edition of Bass Player magazine). The new bass also features four individual-mount die-cast bridge pieces to isolate string vibration, and pumps sonically thanks to P and double-J pickups. Rounding out the trio of new instruments, the Vintage Series CVN50 non-cutaway electric has a 6mm solid spruce top on a mahogany body. Its baby brother, the CVN20, is advertised as "the solid body that thinks it's an acoustic." The CVN50 advances proprietary SBA technology further because the mahogany body is chambered, and the multiple tone chambers impart greater note definition and acoustic-like jangle. All built with state-of-the-art machinery at their own factory in Qingdao, Canvas Guitars are original, American designs with a classic, vintage vibe dubbed "New Old School."
