Elixir Expands Anti-Rust Offerings With Plated Plain Steel Acoustic Guitar Strings
January 29, 2007
Following the success of its Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings for electric guitar, Elixir® Strings, the pioneer of long-life string technology, has proudly introduced Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings for acoustic guitar. Elixir® Strings exhibited Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings along with its complete product line at Winter NAMM 2007, January 18.
Elixir® Strings Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings for acoustic guitar have the feel and sound of traditional strings, but last up to five times longer than ordinary strings without corroding or losing their tone. These long life plain steels are the perfect complement to Elixir® Strings coated wound strings, now allowing acoustic and electric guitarists alike to enjoy the fresh feel and great tone of new strings far longer than with any other brand of strings.
"Now, acoustic guitarists can enjoy the same advantages as electric guitarists—a lifespan three to five times longer than ordinary guitar strings and lasting tone throughout the entire set," said Craig Theorin, product manager, Elixir® Strings.
The secret behind Elixir® Strings' Anti-Rust Plated Steels is its proprietary alloy plating that inhibits tone-killing corrosion. Although the new strings last longer than ordinary plain steel strings, they maintain a traditional metallic feel with the crisp, clean tone of new strings.
Hundreds of guitarists were enlisted to test Elixir® Strings' Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings over the last two years. The musicians were unanimous in assessing the strings' great feel and tone, and noted that tone lasted significantly longer than the strings they had used previously. In addition, in these extended field trials, of the used strings that were returned, nearly all exhibited little or no rust.
Sets of Elixir® Strings Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings for acoustic guitar will be offered in Light and Medium gauges as well as a 12 string Light gauge.
