Gretsch Unveils The Americana Collection Acoustic Guitars

January 19, 2007

Gretsch invites players, collectors and home decorators everywhere to say "Howdy" to the Americana Collection. Reminiscent of the ol' cowboy guitars of yesteryear, this collection of four 3/4-sized acoustic steel-string guitars features distinctive looks, original western-inspired artwork, and playability far beyond their affordable $150 MSRP price tags—sure to make them instant collector's items.Gretsch Americana Series

The Americana Collection includes the appropriately named "Wild West Sweethearts," "The Showdown," "Sundown Serenade," and "Way Out West" models—each of which features a distinctive color and kitschy custom artwork. Yet they are all eminently playable instruments, with durable real-wood construction, precise factory setup, and a tone that just begs for strumming at the nearest campfire.

"The Americana Collection is something we've wanted to create for a while: a fun collection of instruments that's affordable enough for folks to collect all four models," said Gretsch Marketing Manager Joey Carducci. "From the moment we developed them, everyone who's seen them has wanted them—either for playing or just hanging on the walls at home."

The short-scale length and 3/4-size design makes the Americana Collection a great beginner's instrument or portable acoustic, and their unique looks and vibe virtually guarantee that these limited-edition instruments won't be around for long.

"You're gonna have to high-tail it your Gretsch dealer and rustle up one of these beauties before sundown," Lewis said.

The Gretsch Americana Collection will be released one-per-quarter as follows: Wild West Sweethearts—Q1 2007; The Showdown—Q2 2007; Sundown Serenade—Q3 2007; and Way Out West—Q4 2007.
