Three years after the first EW guitars graced the Ibanez booth in Anaheim, Ibanez is taking the very successful Exotic Wood formula to bassists. The new Ibanez Exotic Wood basses feature the same signature cutaway and unique woods of the Exotic Wood Guitars. In addition, the new basses feature 34" inch scale necks, the same scale as used on most electric basses.
"We wanted to get the clear articulation that you get with a longer scale neck," commented Irene Shvartsman of Ibanez Acoustic Guitars. "That's an especially important feature in our 5-string Exotic Wood, since low B-strings can get floppy on a shorter scale neck, and you can lose definition."
The Exotic Wood basses are equipped with the famous Fishman Sonicore pickup complemented by the Ibanez Shape Shifter pre-amp with an onboard tuner.
Three models are offered:
The EWB10ASEOBK features a figured Ash body and lists for $642.84.
The EWB20WNENT 4-string features a Cordia body and lists for $642.84.
The EWB205WENT 5-string also features a Cordia body and lists for $714.27
All feature a mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, Ivorex II™ nut and saddle, Advantage™ bridge pins, and D'Addario EXP™ strings.
