Ibanez Introduces MIMX Modeling Guitar Amplifiers

Ibanez debuted its first modeling guitar amplifiers at the Anaheim 2007 Winter NAMM Show. Two versions are offered: THE MIMX65 65-watt combo with a 12" speaker, which lists for $466.65 and the MIMX150H 150-watt head, which lists for $533.22.

Both MIMX amps offer features that Ibanez states "outspec" their competition: 11 amp models of classic, British, American, and boutique amps, 10 programmable patches, 13 digital effects. In addition, MIMX (pronounced "mimics") provides 50 rhythm patterns, a feature provided by no other modeling amp.

Details:

  • 11 amp models with the widest amp/tonal type variation available. Features ten of the classic British, American and boutique amp models plus a new and original Ibanez high-gain "Psycho" model.
  • 10 programmable patches. Any combination of settings can be auditioned and adjusted in real time and then saved to any one of the 10 memory locations. This includes amp model, equalization settings and digital effects and their particular parameters.
  • 50 rhythm patterns. Wide range of rhythms for any kind of practice, recording or single gig: metal, Latin, hip-hop, ballad, shuffle, hard rock and much more. A feature no other modeling amp has, let alone 50.
  • 13 Digital effects (up to 3 effects simultaneously):
    Four Modulation Type Effects:
    CHORUS: with Depth, Rate and Mix programmable parameters.
    FLANGER: with Depth, Rate and Mix programmable parameters.
    VIBRATO: with Depth, Rate and Mix programmable parameters.
    STEP: with Depth, Rate and Mix programmable parameters.

    Four Delay/Reverb Type Effects:
    DELAY: with Time, Rate and Mix programmable parameters.
    ECHO: with Time, Rate and Mix programmable parameters.
    HALL: Reverb: with Decay, Tone and Mix programmable parameters.
    ROOM: Reverb: with Decay, Tone and Mix programmable parameters.

    Five Expression Pedal-type Effects Accessible via the OPTIONAL Pedal Controller:
    VOLUME: for Real Time Volume Change via Pedal Position
    RING MODULATOR: with Pedal Position, Tone and Mix functions
    AUTO RESONANCE: with Pedal Position, Sense and Resonance functions
    WAH WAH: with Frequency and Level functions
    PEDAL PITCH: with Real Time Pitch Control and Color (pitch function)
