PRESS RELEASE

LMA-120 Digital Metronome

January 19, 2007

Korg announces the LMA-120 Digital Metronome featuring a unique "Conducting Motion" display for natural-feeling tempo indication. Employing a flip-top design and extra-large backlit LCD, the LMA-120 offers three methods of tempo setting, 10 beats and six different rhythms, timer/stopwatch function, basic tuning functionality, tempo accuracy greater than +/-0.1%, extremely long battery life and more.

In addition to offering conventional aural metronome functions, the LMA-120 takes advantage of its extra-large display to provide two modes. The newly developed "Conducting Motion" display is comprised of graphic bars that move in a fashion similar to a conductor's baton. For practice an accelerating motion allows the musician to "feel" tempo changes in a natural, musical way. Alternatively, there is also a left/right movement display that emulates the motion of a conventional mechanical metronome. The left/right motion display can be used simultaneously with the "Conducting Motion."

The LMA-120 offers 10 types of beats and six types of rhythms: quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets, triplet with middle note omitted, quadruplets, and quadruplets with the middle notes omitted. Tempo can be specified in three ways: Full Step mode for adjusting tempo from 30-252 BPM in 1 BPM increments; Pendulum Step mode, which makes use of the same values as a mechanical metronome; or Tap Tempo mode for manually specifying the tempo. A convenient tuning function generates reference tones for tuning instruments in a one-octave range from C4-C5. The A4 reference can be calibrated from 410-480 Hz.

Battery-backed memory preserves the tempo, beat, calibration and reference pitch settings when the LMA-120 is powered off or when the batteries are removed for replacement. Additionally, a Timer/Stopwatch feature allows the user to time practice sessions or performances up to 99 minutes long.

Featuring a flip-top design that protects the LCD and automatically powers down the unit when closed to save battery life, the LMA-120 also has an internal dynamic speaker, 1/8" headphone jack, and can operate via AC power or for approximately 90 hours on two AAA batteries.

The Korg LMA-120 Digital Metronome is available in March 2007 with a U.S. MSRP of $139.

Korg is exhibiting at booth #6440 during the 2007 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA.
