Graph Tech Launches Ghost A/M Acoustic Pickup System At NAMM

January 3, 2008

Graph Tech Guitar Labs will showcase its new Ghost A/M acoustic pickup system at this year's Winter NAMM show. Previously only available on Carvin's NS line of acoustic/midi guitars, this hexaphonic pickup system will be available to national and international original equipment manufacturers. With the Ghost A/M pickup system, manufacturers can make acoustic guitars that play the full range of MIDI sounds while retaining studio-quality amplified acoustic sounds and a great unamplified acoustic tone.

"The Ghost A/M pickup system doesn't interfere with the original acoustic tone," says Dave Dunwoodie, president of Graph Tech Guitar Labs. "Unlike other acoustic MIDI pickup systems, our system does not use metal saddles or under the saddle pickups so the original acoustic tone of the guitar remains."

Endorsed by top Billboard jazz guitarist Steve Oliver, the system uses specific proprietary piezo technology that captures the signal from each individual string and processes both the acoustic signal and the six individual string signals for MIDI conversion. It uses stacked volume controls so the player can define the volume of both the acoustic sound and MIDI synth sound separately. The Ghost A/M's EQ circuit utilizes stacked pots for bass, treble, and sweepable mids giving full body acoustic sound and fast, accurate digital tracking without the dreaded piezo 'quack'.

The Ghost A/M pickup system is currently only available wholesale to OEMs. Manufacturers can contact Graph Tech at 800-388-7011 or via www.graphtech.com for pricing.
