Ibanez's best selling Exotic Woods series gets something new at NAMM—nylon-string models. "Many players love the sound of nylon strings," said Irene Shvartsman of Ibanez acoustic guitars," but they also often find the necks too wide and the whole traditional vibe a bit too conservative. The new EW nylons are the perfect solution to both dilemmas."
The new EW nylon-string guitars are not traditional in any sense of the word. If the radical cutaway wasn't enough, the guitars are fashioned from very untraditional woods, either koa, bubinga, or flamed sycamore, which is well-in-keeping with the aesthetic benchmark set by the first Exotic Wood models. Laser-engraved rosettes further enhance the guitars exotic appearance.
Perhaps best of all, these rich looking and sounding guitars aren't rich in price: The koa Exotic Wood nylon-string retails for only $785.70, the bubinga model for $642.84, and the flamed sycamore model just $571.42. All three are equipped with pickups by B-Band and are strung with D'Addario EXP classic strings.
