The Avedis Zildjian Company, the world's leading cymbal company, is pleased to announce the addition of new models to the innovative cymbal series designed with one of Japan's top drummers, Akira Jimbo. 15, 16 and 18" K Custom Hybrid Crashes, 14" K Custom Hybrid HiHats and a 17" K Custom Hybrid China have been added to the popular series that received the M.I.P.A. award in 2006.

The 14" HiHats capture the same sound as the existing 13" models but with extra volume and more breadth of sound and feature the same "Hybrid Mastersound" hammering on the bottom cymbal. The new 15, 16 and 18" Crashes offer a more complete and traditional array of sizes to choose from and the new 17" China matches perfectly to any existing K Zildjian or K Custom China models. These new models feature the same lathing techniques that give K Custom Hybrid its unique look and sound.

K Custom Hybrid models combine the unlathed, brilliant finish of the K Custom Ride on the inner half with the traditionally finished K Zildjian lathing on the outer half of the cymbal. This results in the possibility of two different sound dynamics depending where the cymbal is played. Additionally, the unlathed section helps to control the wash and sustain, rendering them ideal for recording and live situations.

Another unique feature of the K Custom Hybrid Series is found in the. New "Hybrid Mastersound" hammering results in reverse "Mastersound" grooves by hammering into the bottom of the cymbal from the opposite side. This results in increased surface area contact between the top and bottom cymbals, and a warmer chick and wash than normal Mastersound hammering.

Akira Jimbo said, "I'm very happy the Hybrid Line was accepted by many drummers. They have the power to fly across the borders of musical categories."
