PRESS RELEASE

Limited Production Superstar "Hyper-Drive" Drum Kits

January 29, 2007

For the second year in a row, limited edition and limited production sets were the central focus of the TAMA drum display at the Anaheim NAMM musical instrument convention. Six sets on display, from Tama's three different Superstar series, let those on less-bountiful budgets also have some individuality.

The six Superstar sets are available in Tama's' Hyper Drive configuration, which combines modern, fast-response toms, an extra-deep bass, and a traditional-sized snare: 6.5x10", 7x12" TT, 12x14", 14x16" FT, 5.5x14" SD and 18x22" BD w/o tom mount.

All six Superstar limited production Hyper-Drive kits feature Black Nickel and a specially designed front bass drum head.

In the Superstar Custom series, the kits are available in two lacquer finishes: BMF Blue Metallic Fade & CSF Custom Scarlet Fade. The 6pc kit complete with stands and pedals lists for $1879.99. For the 6pc kit, drums only, the list price is $1599.99.

In the Superstar EFX SX series, the kits are available in two Duracover wraps: WSH White Satin Haze & VNS Vintage Nickel Sparkle. The 6pc kit complete with stands and pedals lists for $18729.99. For the 6pc kit, drums only, the list price is $1549.99.

In the Superstar's standard SK series, the kits are available in two new Superstar brushed wrap finishes: BMB Brushed Metallic Black and BVB Brushed Vintage Blue. The 6pc kit complete with stands and pedals lists for $1539.99. For the 6pc kit, drums only, the list price is $1259.99.

Why Hyper-Drive? Explains drummer Mark Walsh of Tama USA: "More space, more flexibility, more decisions...in a word 'choice.' Hyper-drive kits offer drummers more room to operate. You can position Hyper-Drive tom toms at a wide variety of angles, thus more space. But that's not the only aspect: Tama's Hyper-Drive shallow tom toms allow the drums to have that fast attack with higher pitch than traditional tom sizes, like a hot knife through musical butter...it'll cut through everything. With the Hyper-drive configuration, you'll have a booming 18 x 22 bass drum tone, and with the higher tonal range of the hyper drive toms, you'll dynamic range all over the spectrum. And let's face it, creativity is the key aspect of drumming; the hyper-Drive kits will be that conduit for you."
