Audio Impressions Demos FAR XMG2.D Digital Active Monitor at Winter NAMM

Audio Impressions will be demonstrating the FAR XMG2.D in room 7801 at the 2009 Winter NAMM Show. This is the largest digital active monitor built by ATD2 with 2000 Watt ultra high quality analogue class D amplifiers (2 x 800W for the woofers, 1 x 200W mid-range and 1 x 200 W high frequency) and with a frequency response from 15 Hz to 35 KHz.

The XMG2.D frame is made of steel, reinforced by MDF with a special coating on the frame and in the box in order to damp all vibrations. The front panel is covered by heavy foam with fabric to absorb any vibrations coming from the front panel resulting in amazingly stable and wide stereo imaging and detail.

The two 15 inch woofers are capable of 10 mm excursion and its sealed box construction guarantees low frequency linearity down to 10Hz. The mid-range operates between 100 Hz and 900 Hz is fitted with a Helmholtz resonator to avoid resonances generated by the cabinet and to guarantee accurate and uncolored mid-range. A proprietary designed high efficiency ribbon driver delivers high sound pressure level with ultra low distortion above 900 Hz.

The digital converters and the internal electronics are of the highest quality available and the cross-over frequencies have been carefully calculated to ensure that no driver will be affected by the displacement of the others. To obtain a perfect impulse response and assure a perfect match between the monitors and the mixing environment, all of the drivers are time aligned by the DSP and software to make the XM Range a very powerful tool intended for studio control room monitoring and for use in mastering facilities.
